2. Building trust through web design
Over the past couple of weeks, Iâve been ruminating over the idea of building a website for my services. One key aspect Iâve been overthinking is how not to do on-the-face marketing to a visitor and how to build genuine trust.

I recently crossed 1000 followers on Twitter in 5 months. And while it might not have been an ultimate success journey, I realize that Iâm truly grateful for the quality of my audience.
Also, it felt like a significant milestone, ya know?
Looking back, I understand that some crucial factors allowed me to grow, have fun, and tap into Twitter simultaneously. Here are the top 5, and I truly hope they help you too!
1. Keep your DMs open.
Youâre missing out on tons of opportunities by keeping your DMs closed. Youâre not allowing people to reach out to you and even say âHi!â Over the past year, Iâve formed many friendships purely due to inbound messages. Donât lose out on it:)
2. Donât put threads until you reach 150 followers
Threads take time to write. And in your early days, youâll be tweeting into the void. What do you do instead? Focus on making friends!! And tweet not more than two times a day. Itâll make your journey more enjoyable.
3. Know your WHY
I get a couple of DMs every week from people asking, âHow to grow on Twitter?â. And the first thing I ask them is, âWhy do you want to grow on Twitter?â Dig deeper and deeper into your WHY. And soon, youâll realize you donât need an AUDIENCE to do what you want today.
4. âWhat if I want to build an audience?â
Fair enough. Ask yourself what type of account you want to become. Someone with 6k followers and no engagement? Or someone with 100F and min 2 to 3 replies to every tweet?
Your environment and metrics are yours to decide.
Counter-intuitively, when you focus on what you want: Learning from people, setting your business up, putting out good content, and helping others... You attract great folks around you. I assure you.
The world works in weird ways. So focus on your quality and process.
5. Stop focusing on virality metrics
Viral tweets arenât great, especially when youâre not ready. Have you thought about what youâre going to do with followers? Or what quality of people youâll be bringing in? Or how much youâll get overwhelmed responding to folks? Think deep.
BONUS:
You donât need followers to start a business. Are you a freelancer/coach? Just pitch to 2 or 3 people, and start working! Building a SaaS? Get ten paid subscribers to validate the product idea. You donât need 100k followers in 10 hours.

Growing on Twitter is a long-term game. Donât get burnt out. Chill. Have fun. Learn from the amazing people around you. And youâll be fine!
